FUTURE SNOOPS X VCU CRITICS CHOICE AWARD WINNER FALL ‘25

The Ask:

The prompt for VCU’s Fashion Forecasting class was to create a prediction for a season of choice in 2027 based upon trends and the zeitgeist of the current times.

The Process:
Our team began by contemplating the zeitgeist of 2025 to determine what would be in 2027 based on trends in fashion, pop culture, and current events.  We spent many hours reviewing runway shows all over the world to find trends in fashion. As we honed these research skills our ability to identify and interpret our findings strengthened as well.
Pictured here is one of our earliest attempts at developing a forecast.

The reason these early forecasts didnt hold up, is partially because we were looking at things with a bias. At the same time we didn’t have a clear thesis, or prediction, to use as a lense to evaluate the high volume of garments we were looking at. There enlies the key, in my opinion, to developing a successful forecast. The thesis and the evidence have to be developed hand in hand. For our prediction we chose to evaluate the development of masculinity as it pertains to Men’s Wear and grooming trends.
Our Prediction: Based upon the zeitgeist of an anti establishment rebellion in the form of self expression, masculinity will take on new context as men explore individuality. An increased interest in style and grooming products experimentation will allow for further developments within this trend. The soft masculine man is open to exploration and brave enough to enact necessary change and improve themselves and society as a whole.
