VCU’s Line Development Class Project Collaboration

Eternal Flow” By Cielo Collective in collaboration with:

The Team:

Ariana Mannino, Inez Brito, Benicio Gomez, Alyssa Benson

The Ask:

The Line Development class project prompt is to develop a brand, collection, marketing plan, and promotional materials. This class is a simulation experience, we were given parameters including a “budget” and a theme prompt. The theme this semester was circularity.

The Process:

I thought about this theme and proposed the idea of the water cycle as our element of circularity. The rest of the members of the group loved the idea.We developed the concept for our brand,Cielo Collective, to be based upon the water cycle with functional pieces that are weather proof thanks to Storm Cotton TM Technology. We also were thinking of the environment and worked to create transformative pieces that can be worn many different ways to reduce overconsumption.

All members were tasked with creating 6 looks which were narrowed down by selections from critic Jodi Sandman. Among the eight looks chosen, four included my designs or collaborations:
Forrest Rain- Kristina Wise
Warm Front- Kristina Wise
Patchbay- Kristina Wise, Ariana Mannino
Icefall- Kristina Wise, Inez Brito

Our group elected to use CLO 3D Software to showcase our designs. My contributions to this included: Layered Mist (Full Look) and The Cotton Promotional Tee

Within the marketing and promotions I was responsible for the “Collaborations” portion. This work includes developing the promotional materials for the trunk show including the commercial video for the Cielo Collective x Sweet Bee collaboration.

VCU’s Technology in Fashion Final Project

Farm Amazonian Active” By Kristina Wise

The Ask:

The Technology in Fashion class project prompt was to develop an activewear line in collaboration with an existing brand. The Theme prompt was to select a location and to base the print designs on the location of choice.

All of the prints are custom by me based upon the Rainforest, my chosen location.

The Process:

My Costa Rican heritage and connection with my culture has given me a deep love and appreciation for Tropical Rainforests and I consider them the most mystical natural landscape.

I first chose the Brazilian brand Farm Rio to use for this project as I admire their implementation of culture and activism in the brand, which has become a Multinational company, with locations in Brazil, Mexico, U.S., and London.

After choosing Farm Rio it only made sense to focus on the Amazon Rainforest for inspiration, thus Farm Amazon Active was born.

Skills Learned or Developed:

Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Photoshop
Design Principles
Digital Patternmaking
Fashion Flat Illustration

This project is for Academic Purposes only, with no affiliation to Farm Rio.
